First thing first, all the photos I used in this post are from Google because I am at the office writing this post and my camera is not with me right now. Secondly, this is not a sponsored post... How I wish I am, this is just about me writing something about why I am switching to mirrorless camera.
Whazzup! I am a DSLR user for a long period of time. Nothing beats DSLR cameras. I used not to like mirrorless cameras back then because of poor auto-focus, colors are not great, battery life is poor, but things have changed when I happened to borrow a Samsung NX1000 camera from my sister. Yes, the color was not really that great compared to DSLRs but its auto-focus was above average ,and I realized its practicality. Owning a mirrorless camera for my travels is best because it's not bulky, and it weighs a lot lighter than a DSLR. But I still did not invest on mirrorless camera because I can use my phone to take pictures of my travels.
Then, Sony Alpha came into "great existence" when they listened to the needs of photographers for improvement or shall we say embracing the signs of the times in which some big brands failed to listen. Hey, now is a modern time, why use your hands computing addition, subtraction, multiplication, division of many many numbers to solve in a sec when you can use your computer or calculators? (of course learning the basics is still important). Sony listened to the plea of the peole who loved photogrpahy and videorgraphy and sony produced their new mirrorless camera last 2014, the Sony A6000... and I do have one.
Well, this small monster made its mark and many photographers and videographers loved it. Who doesn't loved the Sony system?
Here's my honest reason why I am switching to mirrorless camera
1. IT'S LIGHT WEIGHT YET COMPACT.
Mirrorless camera today are little monster. Even if it's small, i has the ability and quality of a DSLR camera.
2. IT HAS A MODERN SYSTEM
Mirrorless cameras today have better system today. Super sharp and crisp images is one of that. another thing is the fast EAF or the Eye Auto Focus (human/animal). It's super amazing specially when you are doing weddings and portraits session. It helps you in no time.
3. IT HAS A VARIETY OF MODERN LENSES
Sony Alpha have variety of lenses for their full frame cameras and an amount of APS-C lenses for non full frame camera. Having a variety of lenses produced by Sony will help you in your photography style/genre.
4. COLORS ARE GREAT
No need to expand this, because modern mirrorless cameras have fantastic colors. The skin tones are awesome.
5. ELECTRIC VIEW FINDER
What you see in your viewfinder is what you get. DSLRs aren't like that.
6. I NEED A BACK UP CAMERA
My DSLR is kinda old now and it's best to have a back up camera that is handy and modern.
7. I BOUGHT MY SONY CAMERA FOR A FEW BOX ONLY.
Okay, it's a second hand camera, bought last 2018 but it was only used 5 times and with below 4000 shutter count. I made a great deal with the camera price.
8. SONY A6000 STILL ROCKS IN 2020.
No need to explain or elaborate more.
I think I better add some cons to this post so you can weigh things if you are planning to buy a mirrorless camera.
1. BATTERY LIFE
You need to have more extra batteries in your hand because mirrorless cameras, even the Sony Alpha before 2019 series cameras are not really that long lasting. Good thing there are third party companies that made an affordable batteries for Sony. I bought my extra 2 pcs, and 1 charger Wasabi batteries not more than 1500.00 Pesos.
2. CAMERA BODY & LENSES ARE INCREDIBLY PRICY
Compared to DSLR, mirrorless camera and its lensess are really expensive, even the third party lenses. There are Cheap lenses in the market but only for manual focus enthusiast.
Most of the Sony Lenses are made for their full frame cameras... I don't have a full frame mirrorless camera as of now, maybe one day if Sony will give me one, hahaha... I only have a cropped sensored Camera and sadly as of today, Crop sensor or APS-C lenses are still limited and I mean not only in terms of how many, but also most Sony APC-S lenses are MOSTLY on F4. I guess you know how it feels when you can't go wider than f4. Sooner, hoping they will make crop sensor lenses with f1.8 and not to be too pricy as well.
So, that's it for now. I hope you learned something from this post if you read it.
Till my next post :D
