If you are familiar with Sony cameras, the ZV-1 looks like the Sony RX100 but an upgraded version. The ZV-1 is a 20.1 megapixel camera with a 1 inch stacked EXMOR R CMOS sensor and powered by the latest BIONZ X image processor which gives you a quality footages.
In the country, Sony ZV-1 will be launced on June 2020.
PROS
1. It comes with a 24-70mm f1.8-2.8 Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens. Note, it's Zeiss, that means it's a superb quality glass.
2. Same with RX100, ZV-1 has a phase-detect auto-focus with 315 Auto Focus Points.
3. The ZV-1 comes with a superb real time eye auto-focus. Remember it is Sony.
4. What is also best for this camera is, it has a 3" side flip LCD Display of this camera or a Fully Articulated LCD. This is the first Sony camera that has a side flip LCD display... What's best of Sony, they listen to their supporters' need. Side Flip LCD Display compared to other Sony cameras is more essential to vloggers. They can now mount external microphone on the ZV-1's hot shoe while enjoying the LCD Display without any blockage.
This ZV-1 LCD Screen is also a touch focus screen.
5. ZV-1 also has a dedicated background auto-focus or shall we say bokeh. What's best with this feature is it's not like with smartphone blurs. The bokeh on ZV-1 once you press the dedicated button you will get a genuine background blur because automatically the camera will set you in the F1.8.
6. Another great thing about this compact camera is it has a dedicated button for Product Showcase. Which means, when you show your product in front of the camera, the camera will automatically focus on your product, not in your face.
7. It has a big dedicated video record button. Very nice for Sony to make its video record button bigger on this vlogging camera.
8. It has a record light indicator. You are not going to doubt now if your camera is rolling since Sony created a red record light indicator in front of the camera.
9. ZV-1, even a compact camera, it has a multi-functional hot shoe. You can mount an external microphone, or and external Flash, or Flash Trigger.
10. It has a good quality audio because if the built in capsule high-quality stereo microphones plus it comes with a dead-mouse (microphone cover) that functions really well. You can attached or mount it on the camera hot shoe.
11. ZV-1 has a built in function Face Priority Auto Exposure or a beauty mode.
12. It can shoot stabilized 1080p as well as 4K and can have a 960fps super slow motion recording.
13. If you purchase the kit, it comes with a mini tripod and at the same time a remote for the ZV-1
CONS
According to some Sony ambassadors, they found out during their product test are:
1. It's battery is not long lasting. Buy more extra battery for this camera since you are doing vlogs.
2. It's lens is 24mm the widest. For me it's not an ideal lens for vlogging since it's not that wide compared to a 16mm. Your face will look too close to the screen.
3. 960fps super slow motion is not that smooth. But you can have other options like the 30fps and 60fps.
4. For me, 1 inch sensor is not very ideal for serious vlogging.
5. Beauty mode is a default. You have to turn it off first if you don't want this feature.
6. It's not for photography. You can take pictures but this ZV-1 is best for videos.
If you want to tell stories, start vlogging. This camera is created for creatives who creates amazing creations.
As of today, Sony ZV-1 has no price for Philippines yet. Once Sony announces it's amount, we'll update this post.
