A client once complained about our event coverage price, 1st birthday party of her son, to be particular, that it's too high and she told us that she'll look for other options. Well, it's their right. We respected that. Then she updated us that she found one cheaper, way more cheaper (redundant but that's an emphasis) than our rates. After 2 days, yes 2 days only, I saw her post ranting that their pictures looked like were taken by a kid using a cellphone camera filtered with a uso-uso or trending preset.
Why photographers' and as well videographers' rates are high? Some would say that it's about their investment, the gears. Yes, that's true, our gears aren't 500.00 Pesos only. They cost much and we invest our earnings for that equipment... yet for me, this doesn't explain the entirety of a photographer's high rates because some cheap or mobile phone cameras can capture a so-called "perfect" image.
We are asking for particular rates or you, as a client are paying us high rates because we are capturing your memorable moments that are not seen by many. We photographers and videographers are not just simply clicking our shutters to take pictures, we are there on your big day to capture that unique beauty that no one sees and let you see that beauty through our photographs.
Taking and making photos at events or in photo sessions, indoor or outdoor, is not easy as 1 2 3. We photographers look for something unique and beautiful to cherish and reminisce about in the future. We photographers exert our efforts to deliver good quality creative outputs.
Aside from taking images, 80% of the entire process is post-processing time. This process completes the whole procedure of capturing your moment. The amount of electricity bill is not only at stake while we edit and enhance the captured moments using our computers, laptops, etc., but also our effort, sleepless nights, and dull days - (one on one with our computers) as photographers or videographers to edit and enhance the photos we took creatively.
In short, what you are paying for is not the snaps, it's the creative intelligence of the shooter, the creative clicks, the style, the art, the creativity of the photographer and videographer, the effort, the time, and the energy we put to make your images beautiful and truly memorable photographs or films.
Just like the photo above, if you hire a so-called photographer who offers a very cheap price, the picture says for itself.
